Michael Tayler
3x Olympian | Whitewater Kayaker | RBCx Associate, Early Stage Banking

Michael competed in the sport of Canoe/Kayak Slalom where competitors race down a section of whitewater rapids through a series of gates.

He first qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games as a 20 year-old and was the youngest competitor in the field. He secured his second Olympic team nomination for Rio 2016 after winning all four selection races at the Olympic Trials. In Rio, Tayler missed advancing to the semifinal by one spot and just eighteen-hundredths of a second, placing 16th.

In February 2020, Michael qualified for his third Olympics after another tightly contested qualifier. After a 1-year delay, he competed in the Tokyo Games in the summer of 2021.

Born in Calgary, but raised in Ottawa, Michael attended Carleton University where he graduated in 2016. Outside of kayaking he enjoys cycling, skiing, golf, and spending time at the cottage.

Michael now works alongside founders and tech startups as a member of the RBCx Early Stage Banking team.
